A joint meeting of European networks MEMOSAD, MEMOLOAD, MEMSTICK

The MemStick consortium cordially invites all to a satellite of the FENS 2010 meeting, the 7th conference of the European Neuroscience Society, entitled "Molecular Mechanisms of Memory Loss in Alzheimer’s Disease" and taking place in Amsterdam on 2 July 2010. The satellite is co-organized by three Alzheimer and memory related consortia, MEMOSAD, MEMOLOAD, MEMSTICK, funded by EU Framework programmes. The focus is on the interactions of two key pathological Alzheimer proteins, amyloid-beta and tau, with cellular mechanisms that allow synaptic plasticity to happen when new information is to be stored in neural networks. The program includes presentation of the three consortia and short oral presentations given primarily by young scientists on the latest development in this rapidly evolving field of research.

The meeting is free of charge and open to all who are interested. However, because seating is limited to 115 participants, advance registration is required. Please find the programme, registration and further information at the meeting website.

Un collage de synapses "Memstick": ce projet européen dirigé depuis l'EPFL par Carmen Sandi, professeure au Brain Mind Institute vise a comprendre comment les cellules synaptiques communiquent entre elles. "Cela permettra peut-être aussi de découvrir ce qui, au niveau moléculaire, explique les pertes de mémoire qui caractérisent la maladie d'Alzheimer", peut-on lire dans "24 Heures". Ces découvertes pourraient ensuite ouvrir la voie à des médicaments à base peptidique pour combattre les pertes de mémoire.
